Radu Beligan

Radu Beligan was a Romanian actor, director, and essayist, with an activity spanning over 70 years in theatre, film, television, and radio. He was recognized as one of the major names in Romanian theatre with a complex repertoire, both classic and modern. Beligan was born in Galbeni, a village in the commune of Filipești, Bacău County, to a Romanian father and a mother of Greek origins. He was a disciple of actress Lucia Sturdza-Bulandra and writer Eugène Ionesco. His career began at the age of 20, and he was known for his roles in works by Romanian and universal dramatists. Beligan was also an honorary member of the Romanian Academy and received numerous awards for his contributions to the arts.
