Van Cao

Văn Cao was a Vietnamese composer, poet, and painter, born on November 15, 1923, in Hai Phong, French Indochina. He is most famous for composing "Tiến Quân Ca," which became the national anthem of Vietnam. His contributions to Vietnamese music are significant, and he is considered one of the three most prominent figures in 20th-century Vietnamese music, alongside Phạm Duy and Trịnh Công Sơn. His artistic talents were not limited to music; he was also a recognized poet and painter. Văn Cao was awarded the Hồ Chí Minh Prize for Music posthumously in 1996.
