Pham Duy

Phạm Duy, born Phạm Duy Cẩn on October 5, 1921, in Hanoi, was one of Vietnam's most prolific songwriters. His musical career spanned over seven decades, and he composed more than a thousand songs. He is considered one of the three most influential figures in modern Vietnamese music. His work, which combined traditional elements with new methods, was banned in North Vietnam during the war and in unified Vietnam for over 30 years until restrictions began to ease in 2005. Despite this, his music remained widely known and performed both inside and outside Vietnam.
