Ali Dino

Ali Dino was an Albanian cartoonist and politician, who was born in Chios or Preveza, Ottoman Empire (now Greece) in 1890. He came from a well-known family of trading traditions, and was educated in Vienna and Tirana. He joined the Communist Party of Albania and became a prominent figure in the anti-fascist resistance during World War II. He was elected as the Member of the Greek Parliament for the Preveza prefecture in 1915. He later founded the Party of the Chameria, that represented the local Cham Albanian community ¹ as well as of the Greek Albanian Friendship Society. He was one of the most famous cartoonists in Greece, and published his works in various newspapers and magazines. He also illustrated the first Albanian language primer, published in 1945. He died in Athens, Greece, in 1938.
