Ibrahim Al-Omar was a Syrian journalist and camera operator for Al-Jazeera Mubasher, an Arabic-language live news feed channel operated by Qatar-based Al-Jazeera Media Network. He was born around 1978 in the suburbs of Aleppo in Syria. He covered the Syrian Civil War from the opposition-held areas in the northwestern province of Idlib. He was killed on July 11, 2016, while reporting on the aftermath of a Russian air strike on the village of Tarmanin, where he and his crew were hit by a second strike. He was one of the six Al-Jazeera journalists who lost their lives while covering the conflict in Syria. He was praised by his colleagues and viewers for his courage and professionalism in delivering the news from the ground.
