Raheem Ghamzada was a prominent Pashto-language poet and singer, known for his unique blend of eastern and western tunes in Pashto folk music. Born in 1939 in Khogyani District, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, he began his musical journey at the age of 14. Ghamzada's career spanned over 60 years, during which he worked for Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) and recorded nearly two hundred songs. His compositions often included his own poetry as well as the works of other popular poets like Ghani Khan and Rehman Baba. Ghamzada's collection of poems, titled 'Zama Khkulay Janana,' was compiled and published by Lal Pacha Azmoon, a professor at Kabul University. He passed away on December 16, 2011, after a three-year battle with cancer.
