Lona Gyldenkrone

Lona Gyldenkrone was a Norwegian operatic soprano who performed in various European countries in the late 19th century. She was born in Oslo, Norway, as Lona Gulowsen, and received her musical training from Pauline Viardot in Paris. She made her debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm in 1876, and later sang at the Christiania Theatre in Oslo, where she impressed the audiences with her voice and stage presence. She also gave concerts in Germany, Russia, and Poland, and was engaged by the Court Opera in Schwerin for three years. In 1882, she married the Danish diplomat Baron Emil Gyldenkrone and settled in Copenhagen, where she retired from the stage and became a respected voice teacher. She died in Copenhagen in 1934 at the age of 86. She was known for her roles in operas such as William Tell, The Marriage of Figaro, Faust, La traviata, Il trovatore, and Tannhäuser. She had a strong personality and left a lasting impression on the musical scene of her time.
