Fazel Ahmad Zekrya

Nainawaz, born Fazel Ahmad Zekrya, was a renowned Afghan artist, poet, and composer known for his contributions to Afghan music. He was born into the Barakzai ruling family and showed an early interest in music and poetry, teaching himself to play the accordion. Nainawaz attended Lycée Esteqlal and graduated from Kabul University's Law and Political Faculty. His compositions often had a mystical quality and were set to poems by classic poets like Rumi and Hafez. He was also a mentor to other Afghan artists and played a significant role in modernizing Afghan music. Unfortunately, his life was cut short when he was executed by the Khalq regime after participating in the Bala Hissar uprising.
