Gudolf Blakstad was a Norwegian architect who was noted for his work in the transition between neo-classicism and functionalism in Norwegian architecture. He graduated from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1916 and worked for two years with Arnstein Arneberg before starting his own practice in Oslo. He formed a partnership with Herman Munthe-Kaas in 1922 and they collaborated on several significant projects in Norway, such as Kunstnernes Hus, Haugesund City Hall, Elgeseter Bridge, Bodø Cathedral, and Alfaset Chapel. They also participated in many architectural competitions and won several awards, including the Houen Foundation Award and Betongtavlen. Blakstad was also involved in the restoration of Heddal Stave Church from 1939 to 1954. He died in Oslo in 1985 at the age of 92.
