Adam Schaff

Adam Schaff was a Polish philosopher of Jewish origin who specialized in epistemology and the philosophy of language. He was a member of the Communist Party of Poland and later the Polish United Workers' Party, and served as an official ideologue of the party, especially during its Stalinist period. He was also a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Club of Rome. He wrote several books and articles on various topics related to Marxism, semantics, social sciences, and humanism. He was influenced by the works of Karl Marx, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and Jean Piaget. He was also involved in the political and intellectual debates of his time, and changed his views over the years from a dogmatic Stalinist to a revisionist and a critic of the socialist system. He died in Warsaw in 2006 at the age of 93.
