Michal Bergson

Michał Bergson was a Polish composer and pianist, who was a promoter of Frédéric Chopin. He studied music in Germany and worked mainly in Italy and Switzerland. He became a professor and later the head of the Conservatory in Geneva. He married Katherine Levison, a native of Yorkshire, and they had two children: Henri Bergson, a famous philosopher, and Moina Mathers, an artist and occultist. He moved to London and France with his family and died in London in 1898. He composed several operas, piano pieces, and symphonic works, some of which were performed and published during his lifetime. He was influenced by the Romantic style and incorporated elements of Polish folk music in his compositions.
