Adan Canto

Adan Canto was a Mexican-American actor and director. He left home at the age of 16 to pursue a career as a musician. Canto wrote for and produced several songs for film and television while living in Mexico City. He began acting in a handful of commercials in Mexico City and was soon cast in a television series called Estado de Gracia. He made his Hollywood debut in the film Casi treinta, playing the role of Emilio. He then landed roles in American films and TV shows, such as The Following, Mixology, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Blood & Oil, Narcos, Designated Survivor, and The Cleaning Lady. He played a variety of characters, from a mutant superhero to a Colombian drug lord, showcasing his versatility and range as an actor. He also directed and wrote his first short film, Before Tomorrow, which was released in 2014 and won the Best Narrative Short Film award at the 2020 Los Angeles International Film Festival. He was married to Stephanie Ann Canto, an American art instructor, and they had two children, Roman and Eve. He died of appendiceal cancer on January 8, 2024, at the age of 42. He is remembered as a talented, charismatic, and kind-hearted person who has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment.
