Toju Augustus Ejueyitchie

Toju Augustus Ejueyitchie was a Nigerian musician, entrepreneur, and music executive. He was born on May 11, 1952 in Kaduna, Nigeria to Augustus and Victoria Ejueyitchie. He attended St. Gregory's College, Lagos and later studied Business Administration at the University of Lagos. He started his career as a singer and songwriter, releasing several albums and singles in the 1970s and 1980s. He was also a member of the Nigerian Copyright Society and the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria. In 1996, he became the Managing Director of Premier Records and Premier Music Publishing, two of the oldest and most reputable music companies in Nigeria. He was responsible for preserving and promoting the works of many Nigerian music legends, such as Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Sir Victor Uwaifo, and many others. He also supported and mentored many young and upcoming artists, such as 2face Idibia, Asa, Timi Dakolo, and others. He was widely respected and admired in the Nigerian music industry for his integrity, professionalism, and passion. He was married to Esther Ejueyitchie, and they had three children: Tomiwa, Tobi, and Tolu. He died on January 29, 2021 in Lagos, Nigeria after suffering a heart attack. He was 68 years old. He was buried in Lagos, Nigeria. He left behind a legacy of music, excellence, and service that will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.
