Peter Christopher Judge

F. J. McCormick was an Irish actor who became known for his work at Dublin's Abbey Theatre. He acquired the stage name F. J. McCormick to disguise his identity from his current and future employers, and to avoid parental disapproval. He joined the Abbey Theatre at the age of 19 and played in over 500 productions there, including O'Casey's The Shadow of a Gunman, Juno and the Paycock, and The Plough and the Stars. He was considered the greatest and most versatile Irish actor of his generation. He also appeared in three films: The Plough and the Stars (1936), Hungry Hill (1947), and Odd Man Out (1947). He married his fellow Abbey actress Eileen Crowe in 1925 and they had two children, David and Marie. He died of a brain tumor in 1947, aged 56.
