Joseph Michael Kerrigan

J. M. Kerrigan was an Irish actor and director who started his career in the Irish National Theatre, later known as the Abbey Players. He appeared in plays by Lady Gregory, William Butler Yeats and John Millington Synge, and created the role of Shawn Keogh in The Playboy of the Western World. He toured with the company to New York City in 1908 and 1911, where he also directed and acted in several short films. He settled permanently in Hollywood in 1935, after being recruited by John Ford for The Informer. He played supporting roles in many films, such as Gone with the Wind, The Wolf Man, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. He also appeared in numerous TV shows, such as Wagon Train, Tales of Wells Fargo, and The Loretta Young Show. He was known for his versatility, humor, and Irish charm. He died in 1964 at the age of 79 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
