Kate Jennings

Kate Jennings was an Australian writer and feminist activist who moved to New York City in 1979. She was known for her outspoken and provocative style, as well as her literary achievements. She published several novels, including Snake (1996) and Moral Hazard (2002), which won the Christina Stead Prize for fiction and was shortlisted for several other awards. She also wrote essays, memoirs, and poetry, covering topics such as politics, feminism, culture, and her personal life. She was a frequent contributor to various magazines and newspapers, such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Monthly, and The Sydney Morning Herald. She was also a speechwriter for Wall Street firms and a co-founder of the feminist magazine Women's Ink. She died of cancer on May 1, 2021, at the age of 72.
