Padraic Colum

Padraic Colum was an Irish-born American poet who was one of the leading figures of the Irish Literary Revival. He was influenced by the Celtic culture and folklore of his native land, and wrote many poems, plays, novels, and stories that captured the traditions and spirit of rural Ireland. He also collected and edited folklore from other regions, such as Hawaii and Polynesia, and wrote several books for children based on myths and legends. He was a friend and collaborator of many prominent Irish writers and artists, such as James Joyce, W.B. Yeats, Lady Gregory, and George Russell. He also taught at Columbia University and received several awards and honors for his literary achievements. He died in Connecticut at the age of 90 and was buried in Ireland.
