About me / Bio:
Chaudhry Aslam Khan was a Pakistani police officer who was known for his tough actions against terrorists, criminals and militants. He was born in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, in 1967. He was the son of Akram Khan Swati, an advocate and mayor of Bombay. He moved to Karachi with his father after completing his primary education. He belonged to the Swati tribe. He joined the Sindh Police force in 1987 as an assistant sub-inspector and served in several police stations across Karachi and in Balochistan. He became an encounter specialist and was involved in many shoot-outs and operations against the enemies of law and order. He was suspended and reinstated several times due to his controversial methods and allegations of extra-judicial killings. He was appointed as the head of the Anti-Extremist Cell of the Criminal Investigation Department in 2010 and was responsible for combating terrorism and extremism in Karachi. He arrested and killed many members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP). He also led the Lyari Task Force and tried to end the gang war in Lyari Town. He survived many assassination attempts by his enemies, including a suicide attack on his house in 2011 that killed eight people. He remained defiant and determined to fight against the terrorists and said that he would not bow to them. He received many awards and honors for his bravery and service, such as the Pakistan Police Medal, the Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal, the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and the Herald's Person of the Year. He also received tributes from various national and international figures, such as the president and prime minister of Pakistan, Bill Gates, and Malala Yousafzai. He was regarded as one of the most influential and respected police officers in the history of Pakistan. He was killed in a bomb blast on 9 January 2014, along with two other officers, his guard and driver, when a bomber targeted his convoy on the Lyari Expressway in Karachi. The TTP claimed responsibility for the attack and said that they had finally killed him for his operations against them. He was buried in Karachi and mourned by the whole nation. He left behind a wife, three sons and a daughter.
