Ishfaq Ahmad Khan

Ishfaq Ahmad Khan was a Pakistani nuclear physicist and a former science advisor to the Government of Pakistan. He received his MSc and PhD in physics from the Université de Montréal in Canada. He worked at various institutions, including the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the National Centre for Physics. He published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as superstring theory, particle physics, and nuclear physics. He was also involved in a black market of nuclear technology and know-how whereby uranium-enrichment centrifuges, nuclear warhead designs, missiles, and expertise were sold or traded to Iran, North Korea, Libya, and possibly other countries. He received the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Order of Excellence) in 1998, the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Crescent of Excellence) in 1995, and the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 1989 by the President of Pakistan. He died of natural causes in Islamabad on 18 January 2018. He was 87 years old.
