Niaz Ahmed

Niaz Ahmed was a Pakistani cricketer who played in two Tests in 1967 and 1969. He was the only East Pakistani to play Test cricket for Pakistan. He started his career at the age of 14 from Radio Pakistan, Lahore. He joined the Pakistan Public Works Department, where he worked as an engineer. He was selected to tour England with the Pakistan team in 1967 and played 11 of the 17 first-class matches. He made his Test debut in the Second Test at Nottingham, taking two wickets in the first innings. He played his last Test in Dhaka in 1969, also against England. He played for various domestic teams, including Dacca, East Pakistan, Pakistan Railways and Public Works Department. He took 62 wickets in 39 first-class matches, with a best of 5 for 86. He died in Karachi on 12 April 2000 at the age of 54.
