Mahmoud Yassin

Mahmoud Yassin was an Egyptian actor who was an iconic figure in both Egyptian cinema and television, portraying dramatic, psychological and romantic roles. He studied law at the Ain Shams University in 1964, then he started his acting career in 1968. He acted in more than 150 films and theatrical plays, such as The Man Who Lost His Shadow, The Thin Thread, The Bullet is still in my pocket, Where Is My Mind?, Whom Should We Shoot?, The liar, Mouths and Rabbits, Roadless Traveller, Al Amaleyyya 42, Days of Terror, and The Island. His last work was a comedy film Grandpa Habibi in 2012. He also starred in several TV series, such as Al-Raqam Al-Maghool, Ba’d Al-Daya, and ElAsyann. He was known for his deep voice and his excellent performance in Arabic language. He also narrated and commented on many national and official occasions. He married the actress Shahira in October 1970, with whom he had two children, Rania and Amro, who are also actors. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for eight years and died on 14 October 2020 at the age of 79.
