Nour El-Sherif was a prominent Egyptian actor and producer, who starred in more than 140 films and TV series. He began his career in 1967 with a role in Kasr El Shawk, and went on to work with some of the most renowned directors in Egyptian cinema, such as Youssef Chahine, Salah Abu Seif, and Mohamed Khan. He won several awards for his performances, including the Best Actor Award at the Cairo International Film Festival in 1995 for Leila Sakhina, and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Dubai International Film Festival in 2010. He was also known for his social and political activism, supporting the 2011 Egyptian revolution and the 2013 overthrow of Mohamed Morsi. He was married to actress Poussi, with whom he had two daughters, Sarah and Mai. He died from lung cancer in Cairo at the age of 69 in 2015.
