Oduvaldo Vianna Filho

Oduvaldo Vianna Filho, also known as Vianinha, was a Brazilian writer and playwright, one of the most important and influential authors of the 20th century in Brazil. He was born in São Paulo, in 1936, and studied law and literature at the Federal University of Pernambuco. He began his literary career in 1955, publishing his first play, Chapetuba Futebol Clube. He was a member of the Teatro de Arena, where he wrote and acted in several plays that exposed the social and political reality of Brazil, such as A Falecida, Zona Norte, and A Revolução na América do Sul. He was also a founder of the Centro Popular de Cultura da UNE and the Grupo Opinião, which aimed to create a popular and national theater. He wrote many other plays, such as Rasga Coração, Nossa Cidade, and Mão na Luva. He was also a journalist, a translator, a teacher, and a public servant. He was a member of the Brazilian Communist Party and a militant against the military dictatorship. He was also a creator and director of the humorous TV series A Grande Família, which portrayed the daily life of a lower-middle-class family in Rio de Janeiro. He died in 1974, at the age of 38, in Rio de Janeiro. He is regarded as one of the greatest masters of Brazilian literature and theater, and one of the main representatives of the modernist movement.
