Lo Lieh

Lo Lieh was an Indonesian-born Hong Kong martial artist and film actor who became the first kung fu superstar in 1969, before Bruce Lee. He joined the Shaw Brothers Studio in 1962 and starred in many classic martial arts films, such as King Boxer, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Executioners from Shaolin, and Clan of the White Lotus. He also played villains, such as Pai Mei and Miyamoto, and co-starred with other famous actors, such as Lee Van Cleef, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Michelle Yeoh. He turned to directing in the 1980s and made four films. He retired from acting in 2001 after appearing in more than 100 films. He died of a heart attack in 2002 at the age of 63. He is regarded as one of the most influential and legendary figures in Hong Kong cinema history.
