Shih Kien

Shih Kien was a Chinese actor and martial artist who appeared in over 350 films spanning a 50-year career. He made his film debut in the 1940 motion picture Flower in the Blood. He gained fame for his portrayal of the villains in several Hong Kong martial arts films, especially those related to the legendary folk hero Wong Fei-hung. He is best known to Western audiences as the one-handed villain Han in the 1973 film Enter the Dragon, which starred Bruce Lee. His character's voice was dubbed by Keye Luke. Shih was also a martial arts instructor who trained at the Chin Woo Athletic Association in Shanghai. He was proficient in several styles, such as Eagle Claw, Choy Li Fut, Xingyi, and Bagua. He also taught martial arts to his children and grandchildren, some of whom became actors and stuntmen. Shih died on June 3, 2009, at the age of 96, from kidney failure. He was buried at the Cape Collinson Cemetery in Hong Kong. He is regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of Hong Kong cinema.
