About me / Bio:
Tien Feng was born in Jiangxi, China, on June 4, 1928. His father was a military officer and his mother was a Peking opera performer. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1946 and participated in the Chinese Civil War. He moved to Taiwan in 1949 and started his acting career in the film industry. He was known for his roles as villains, heroes, and supporting characters in various genres, such as martial arts, comedy, drama, and historical films. He worked with many famous directors and actors, such as King Hu, Chang Cheh, Li Han-hsiang, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Angela Mao, and Ti Lung. He was also a martial arts instructor and choreographer. He appeared in more than 400 films and TV series in his career, spanning six decades. Some of his notable films include The Assassin (1967), The One-Armed Swordsman (1967), The Magnificent Trio (1966), The Sword of Swords (1968), The Winged Tiger (1970), Fist of Fury (1972), The Young Master (1980), and Miracles (1989). He won several awards for his acting, such as the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1976 and 1983, and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. He also received the Order of Brilliant Star from the Taiwanese government in 2004. He retired from acting in 1991 and devoted himself to charity work and Buddhism. He died of heart failure on October 22, 2015, in Taipei, at the age of 87. He was buried in Yangmingshan Cemetery, where many other prominent figures of the Taiwanese film industry are also laid to rest. He was survived by his wife Chen Yen-yen, a former actress, and his three children.
