Angelique Ionatos

Angelique Ionatos was a renowned Greek singer, guitarist, and composer, known for her dedication to setting and singing classical and modern Greek texts. Born in Athens, Greece, she moved to France as part of the Greek diaspora and lived there from 1981 or earlier. Her career spanned over four decades, during which she produced 19 albums and collaborated with various artists. She was deeply inspired by Nobel laureate Odysseas Elytis and set many of his works to music. Ionatos was also recognized for her performances of Sappho's texts, translated by Elytis. Her contributions to music and her unique blend of Greek traditional, poetic song, and blues have left a lasting impact on Mediterranean culture.
