Badri Narayan

Badri Narayan (1929–2013) was born at Secunderabad in South India. He had no formal training in art, but he developed his own style of painting with simple outlines and stylised representations. He worked with various media, such as ink, pastel, watercolour, tile and ceramic. He also illustrated children's books and wrote short stories and verse. His works are influenced by Indian mythology, folklore, literature and his own personal experiences. He often used symbolism and fantasy in his paintings, creating a sense of intimacy and appeal. He received many awards and recognition for his artistic achievements, such as the Padma Shri in 1987 and the Maharashtra Gourav Puruskar in 1990. He died on 23 September 2013 due to frail health, at a hospital in Bangalore.
