About me / Bio:
August von Mackensen was a German military leader who is remembered for his valiant contribution during World War I. He began his military career with the Franco-Prussian War. Some of his major battles of World War I were his campaigns against Russia on the Eastern Front, against Serbia, and against Romania. He was known for his aggressive and decisive tactics, as well as his loyalty to the German Emperor Wilhelm II. He was one of the few German generals who retained their rank and honors after the war. He remained a committed monarchist and a respected figure in the German society until his death in 1945 at the age of 95.
