Ludovika Wilhelmine of Bavaria

Ludovika was the sixth child of King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria and his second wife Caroline of Baden. She was born and died in Munich. She married her cousin Maximilian Joseph, Duke in Bavaria, in 1828 and had ten children with him. She was known for arranging dynastic marriages for her daughters, especially Elisabeth, who became the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary. She was also the grandmother of King Ludwig III of Bavaria and the great-grandmother of King Umberto II of Italy. She was a devoted mother and a loyal wife, who supported her husband's interests in art and culture. She was also a devout Catholic and a charitable lady. She was close to her sisters, especially Elisabeth Ludovika, who became the Queen of Prussia. She lived through many political and social changes in Europe and witnessed the rise and fall of several monarchies. She died at the age of 83 and was buried in the Theatine Church in Munich.
