Carmen Alardin

Carmen Alardin was a Mexican poet who specialized in German literature. She studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and obtained a master's degree in Mexican literature. She also did a specialization at the Goethe Institute in Munich, Germany. Her poetry explored themes such as love, life, and desire, with a lyrical and expressive style. She published her first book, El canto frágil, at the age of 16, and continued to write until her last work, Miradas paralelas, in 2004. She received several awards and recognitions for her literary career, such as the Xavier Villaurrutia Prize in 1984, the Medal of Civic Merit in 1989, and the Prize for the Arts in 1999. She was also the mother of two actors, Ana Silvia Garza and Jaime Garza, and the grandmother of singer and actress Mariana Garza. She died of cardiovascular disease in 2014, at the age of 80.
