Andre Rene Roussimoff

André René Roussimoff was born on May 19, 1946, in Coulommiers, France. He suffered from a condition called acromegaly, which caused his bones to grow at an abnormal rate. He reached a height of 7 feet 4 inches and a weight of over 500 pounds. He started his wrestling career in France at the age of 18 and soon became a sensation in Japan and Europe. He adopted the ring name André the Giant and joined the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in 1973. He became a fan favorite for his impressive size and strength, as well as his gentle personality. He was undefeated for nearly 15 years in WWE and won the WWE Championship and the World Tag Team Championship. He also had memorable feuds with Hulk Hogan, Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, and Bobby Heenan. He was also a successful actor, appearing in several movies and TV shows, most notably as Fezzik in The Princess Bride. He died on January 28, 1993, in Paris, France, due to congestive heart failure. He was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1993 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.[1][2][4][5]
