Tiberiu Popoviciu was a Romanian mathematician renowned for his work in numerical analysis and functional analysis. He was born on February 16, 1906, in Arad, Hungary, and passed away on October 29, 1975, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Popoviciu made significant contributions to mathematics, including Popoviciu's inequality and Popoviciu's inequality on variances. His legacy continues through the Tiberiu Popoviciu Institute of Numerical Analysis, which he founded, and the high school of computer science in Cluj-Napoca that bears his name. He was a member of the Romanian Academy and married Elena Moldovan Popoviciu, who was also a notable mathematician.
