Dang Thi Nhu

Đặng Thị Nhu, also known as Ba Cẩn, was a prominent figure in the Yên Thế Insurrection against French control in Northern Vietnam. Born into a poor family, she was educated in Chữ Nôm by her father. As the third wife and partner of Hoàng Hoa Thám, she played a crucial role in the resistance, handling logistics and participating in planning and combat. Her life was marked by her dedication to the cause, culminating in her arrest and subsequent death by drowning while being transported to Guyane. Her legacy is intertwined with the Yên Thế Uprising, a symbol of Vietnamese resistance and determination.
