Dao Duy Tu

Đào Duy Từ was a Vietnamese scholar, poet, military adviser, and mandarin who served under the reign of Nguyễn lord Nguyễn Phúc Nguyên. Born in Tĩnh Gia, Thanh Hóa, he was the son of a folk singer and was raised by his mother after his father's death. Despite initial setbacks in his career due to his father's profession, Tễu's intelligence and talent in poetry eventually led him to become a prominent figure in the Nguyễn lord's court. His contributions to the military strategies and cultural developments of the time left a lasting impact on Vietnamese history.
