About me / Bio:
Major Lionel Guy d'Artois was a distinguished Canadian Army officer and Special Operations Executive (SOE) agent during World War II. Born on April 9, 1917, in Richmond, Quebec, he joined the Militia at the age of 16. He later served in the First Special Service Force and volunteered for the SOE, being parachuted into France in May 1944. His courageous actions in organizing and operating with units of the Free French Forces earned him the Distinguished Service Order from Britain and the Croix de Guerre from France. Post-war, he commanded the Canadian Special Air Service Company and served during the Korean War. He passed away on March 15, 1999, at the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Veterans hospital.
