Muharrem Qena was an Albanian actor and writer who was born in Mitrovica, Kosovo in 1930. He studied film in Belgrade and became one of the founders of the theatrical scene in Kosovo and of Albanian light music. He worked as a director, producer, singer, and screenwriter. He wrote the awarded play "Bashkëshortët" and performed in many other plays, such as "Zonja me Kamelie", "Erveheja", "Anmiku i popullit", and "Ambrozio shfaros kohën". He also acted in several movies and TV shows, such as "Kapedan Lleshi", "Proka", "Lepuri me pesë këmbë", and "Kukumi". He created and sang many popular songs in the 1960s, such as "Kaçurrelja", "Shokut", "Lamtumirë", "Mine", and "Tetori". He received many awards and honors for his artistic activity, such as Merited Artist of Albania in 1951, People's Artist of Albania in 1985, and Master of Greatness in 2011. He died in 2006 in Prishtina, where a street bears his name today in his memory.
