Nourhane

Nourhane was a Syrian singer and actress of Circassian origin. She started singing at a young age, memorizing songs she heard on the radio and record-players, and reciting them at all-women traditional musical gatherings. She married at the age of 14 and moved to Cairo with her husband and son. She worked as an extra on movies and adopted the professional name Nourhane, which was a combination of the names of two famous singers, Nour El Hoda and Asmahan. She acted in three feature films and sang songs composed by renowned musicians such as Mohamed Mohsen, Mohamed Abdelkarim, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, and Wadih Al-Safi. She was known for her beautiful voice and her elegant style. She died in 2022 at the age of 100 in Beirut, Lebanon. ¹
