Adham Al-Akrad

Adham Al-Akrad was a Syrian rebel leader in Daraa Governorate during the Syrian Civil War. He agreed to a settlement with the government after the entire governorate came under the Syrian army's control in 2018. Al-Akrad was a strong critic of the regime and the Iranian presence in the south. He was killed on his way to a meeting in Damascus in October 2020. ¹ He was living in the United Arab Emirates before the start of the Syrian civil uprising in March 2011. Where he was the manager of an energy engineering company there, as an energy engineer. Al-Akrad also resided in Russia for a while. He was married to his cousin and they had five sons. ¹ He was the commander of the Engineering and Missiles Regiment, which was part of the Free Syrian Army and the Southern Front. He participated in several battles against the Syrian government forces and the Islamic State, such as the Siege of Menagh Air Base, the Battle of Tell Abyad, and the Siege of Kobanî. He also cooperated with other rebel factions, such as the People's Protection Units, the Levant Front, and the Euphrates Volcano. He joined the Army of Revolutionaries and the Syrian Democratic Forces in 2015. He was known for his charisma, courage, and military skills. He was respected by many rebels and civilians in the south. He advocated for a pluralist democracy in Syria, where all people can live freely and have their rights guaranteed. He also opposed any foreign intervention or influence in the country.
