Mette Lange-Nielsen

Mette Lange-Nielsen was a Norwegian actress and costume designer who appeared in several films and television shows. She was born in Oslo, Norway, on April 30, 1929, to Fredrik Lange-Nielsen, a lawyer and politician, and Ingeborg Stang, a descendant of the prominent Stang family. She had a brother, Trygve Lange-Nielsen, who also became a lawyer and politician. She married Per Lillo-Stenberg, an actor and director, in 1952, and they had a son, Lars Lillo-Stenberg, who became a musician and the lead singer of the band deLillos. Mette Lange-Nielsen was known for her roles in films such as Dei svarte hestane (1951), Kvinnens plass (1956), Støv på hjernen (1959), Broder Gabrielsen (1966), Jentespranget (1973), and Liten Ida (1981). She also worked as a costume designer for some of her husband's films, such as Klokker i måneskinn (1964) and Min Marion (1975). She was also the first female announcer on Norwegian television, and the cover photos of deLillos' albums were usually taken by her. She died of cancer on May 29, 1981, at the age of 52, and was buried at Vestre gravlund in Oslo. Her son Lars wrote a song called "Mor" in 1997, which was dedicated to her memory.
