Edvard Storm was a Norwegian poet, songwriter and educator who lived in the 18th century. His writings were frequently characterized by the Norwegian romantic nationalism common to the age. He wrote songs in his local Norwegian dialect that are considered seminal works of Norwegian literature. He also contributed to the development of education in his home district of Vågå, where he lectured on various topics and became a head inspector of a secondary school. He was an admirer of the Danish poet Johannes Ewald and attached himself to his circle of friends in Copenhagen, where he spent most of his life. He died of tuberculosis in 1794 and was buried at Assistens Cemetery in Copenhagen.
