Egill Reimers was a Norwegian architect who shaped the cityscape of Bergen with his diverse and innovative designs. He graduated from the Technische Hochschule in Munich in 1902 and started his own practice in Bergen in 1904. He worked in various styles, from Jugendstil to Neoclassicism to Functionalism, always showing a respect for the local building tradition. He designed many public and private buildings, such as the State Archives, the Bergen District Court, the University Museum of Bergen, the Geophysics Institute, and the Concert Palace. He also participated in the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, where he won the gold medal in the 12 metre class sailing event with the Norwegian boat Heira II. He died in Bergen in 1946, leaving behind a rich architectural legacy.
