Erasmo Carlos was a Brazilian singer and composer who was born in Rio de Janeiro on June 5, 1941. He was one of the pioneers of rock music in Brazil, and collaborated with his friend and fellow singer Roberto Carlos on many songs. He started his musical career as a folk dancer and joined the Air Force's recreation troupe as an actor. He debuted as a singer in 1960 and released his first album in 1963. He was known for his powerful voice and rebellious style, and was considered one of the icons of the Jovem Guarda movement of the 1960s. He performed in many concerts and events throughout Brazil and abroad. He was also involved in charity work and environmental protection. He died of cancer on November 22, 2022 at the age of 81. He was widely mourned by his fans and the public, and received many posthumous honors and awards for his music and legacy.
