Anna Jablonowska

Anna Jabłonowska was a Polish poet and translator. She was born in Warsaw in 1935 and studied Polish literature at the University of Warsaw. She made her debut as a poet in 1956 with the collection "The First Day". She published several more volumes of poetry, such as "The Second Day", "The Third Day", "The Fourth Day", and "The Last Day". Her poems were characterized by lyrical expression, existential themes, and metaphysical questions. She also translated poetry from English, French, German, and Russian, including works by T.S. Eliot, Rainer Maria Rilke, Anna Akhmatova, and Marina Tsvetaeva. She received many awards and honors for her literary achievements, such as the Kościelski Award, the Polish PEN Club Award, and the Order of Polonia Restituta. She died of cancer in Warsaw in 2010 at the age of 75.
