About me / Bio:
Jan III Sobieski was a Polish nobleman, soldier, and statesman who became the king of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania in 1674. He is best known for his military prowess and his victory over the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Vienna in 1683, which saved Europe from the Turkish invasion and earned him the title of the "Savior of Christendom". He was also a patron of arts and culture, and a devoted husband and father. He died in 1696 at his palace in Wilanów, near Warsaw.
