About me / Bio:
Augustus II the Strong was a powerful ruler who transformed the Saxon capital of Dresden into a cultural centre and patronized the arts and architecture. He also became the king of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania after converting to Roman Catholicism. He was involved in several wars, such as the Great Northern War and the War of the Polish Succession, which weakened his authority and drained his resources. He was known for his physical strength and his numerous affairs and children. He died of gangrene in 1733 after injuring his leg.
