Christian Holm

Christian Holm was a Danish painter who specialized in animal and hunting scenes. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and learned engraving and modeling. He initially wanted to become a battle painter, but later switched to animal painting after traveling to Germany and Italy. He settled in Munich, where he became successful and sold many paintings to wealthy patrons. He also visited Rome several times and moved there with his family in 1845. He received orders from King Christian VIII of Denmark, but died shortly after from a fever. He was buried in Tivoli, Rome. His widow Rosalie returned to Copenhagen and became an engraver.
