Naser al-Din Shah Qajar

Naser al-Din Shah Qajar was the fourth Shah of Qajar Iran from 1848 to 1896. He was the son of Mohammad Shah Qajar and Malek Jahan Khanom and the third longest reigning monarch in Iranian history. He was a reformer who introduced many modern innovations to Iran, such as telegraph, postal service, roads, schools, newspapers, and photography. He also visited Europe three times and was impressed by the Western civilization. He granted many concessions to foreign powers in exchange for money, which caused discontent among his subjects. He faced several rebellions and assassination attempts during his reign, and was finally killed by Mirza Reza Kermani, a follower of Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, at the Shah-Abdol-Azim shrine. He was buried at the same shrine and succeeded by his son Mozaffar al-Din Shah Qajar.
