Khurram Murad

Khurram Murad was a Pakistani Islamic scholar and writer. He was born in Bhopal, British India, on 3 November 1932. He received his BEng in civil engineering from the University of Karachi in 1952 and his MSc in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1958. He worked as a lecturer, a chief engineer, and a resident director in various engineering projects and institutions in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. He was also involved in the Islamic movement and the promotion of da'wah activities in Asia, Europe, and Africa. He was a close associate of Abul A'la Maududi and a vice-president of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. He was also a prisoner of war in India for two and a half years after the fall of East Pakistan in 1971. He moved to the UK in 1977 and became the director general of The Islamic Foundation, a well-known research and educational institution. He also served as the editor of Tarjumanal Qur'an, a journal founded by Maududi, and the Muslim World Book Review, a quarterly publication. He wrote several books and articles on various aspects of Islam, such as Way to the Quran, In the Early Hours, Islam - The Easy Way, and Who is Muhammad? He died of natural causes in Leicester, UK, on 19 December 1996. He was 64 years old.
