Waheed Murad

Waheed Murad was a Pakistani film actor, producer and script writer, famous for his charming expressions, attractive personality, tender voice and unusual talent for acting. He was born on 2 October 1938 in Karachi, Pakistan. He graduated from the S.M. Arts College Karachi, and then earned a master's degree in English literature from the University of Karachi. He started his film career as a cameo in 1959 in the film Saathi when he was 21 years old. He became a superstar overnight with his film Armaan in 1966, which he also produced. He acted in 125 feature films and earned 32 film awards, including six Nigar Awards and a Sitara-e-Imtiaz. He was known as the Chocolate Hero or the Lady Killer of the Pakistani film industry. He was also a pioneer of film production and script writing in Pakistan. He wrote scripts for four films and directed one film. He also sang a song in one of his films. He died on 23 November 1983 in Karachi from a heart attack. He is regarded as one of the most famous and influential actors of South Asian cinema.
